Meet Liza Barber

Liza Barber is the wife of NFL player Ryan Fitpatrick, her hubby is not a new face in the sport, the 10-year vet quarterback, landed with the Jets this off-season and unexpectedly became the team’s starter earlier this week, after a teammate broke quarterback Geno Smith’s jaw in a locker-room fight.

In other news, 32-year-old Ryan can scratch another item from his “off-season bucket list” –every year the bearded QB attempts to master a hobby or two, this year’s: the iconic Rubik’s Cube.

Liza also 32, and her man have been married for almost 9-years, the couple met while attending Harvard. Her man was an economics major at Harvard and has been described as one of the smartest NFL players.

She met Ryan during his junior year at Harvard after knowing each other for a couple of years. The couple shares a funny anecdote on how he proposed, according to a NY Times article, on the same day he purchased her engagement ring with money from their shared bank account, a cashier at the Gap thought Barber had been double-charged for an item. When Barber said that she would check her bank balance later, Fitzpatrick, with the ring hidden in his car, knew he had to propose before they got home.

Barber told him she craved McDonald’s. He said of the less than romantic moment: “I asked her when she was between her third and fourth Chicken McNugget,” “She had sweet and sour all over her face.”

Liza and Ryan tied the knot in 2006, a year prior she had graduated from Harvard –where she was an All-American soccer player. She grew up in West Des Moines, Iowa and attended Valley High school. She was the team’s captain at Harvard. Liza left the soccer days to become a wife and mom of five, the couple’s eldest son is named Brady.

During an interview her hubby said about her: “Liza has been an amazing wife and someone I have been able to share this whole experience with from the very beginning.”

Her hubby is known for never removing his wedding ring, not even for games. The family of 6 keep things private, they reside in Texas.
